The Sanitary Chemistry Teaching and Research Section was established in 1982. At present, there are 9 teaching and research personnel, including 3 professors, 2 associate professors, 1 associate researcher, and 3 lecturers. There are 2 doctoral supervisors and 8 master's supervisors. All of them hold a doctorate degree. Two of them have been awarded as young and middle-aged key teachers in Henan Province, and four have been awarded as young key teachers of Zhengzhou University. Three of them have more than one year of overseas visiting experience. The teaching and research section mainly undertakes the teaching tasks of courses such as "Sanitary Chemistry" for undergraduates majoring in preventive medicine, "Sanitary Physical and Chemical Inspection", "Selected Topics of Modern Instrumental Analysis" and "Optical Probes and Biosensing" for postgraduates majoring in public health, and "Frontiers of Life Analytical Science" for doctoral students. In 2019, it was rated as a qualified grass-roots teaching organization in Henan Province. "Sanitary Chemistry" was rated as an excellent online course in Henan Province in 2020 and a first-class online course in Henan Province in 2022. In 2023, it was rated as a research-oriented teaching demonstration course for undergraduate colleges and universities in Henan Province. In 2020, it won the third prize of online teaching achievements in Henan Province and the undergraduate teaching excellence award of Zhengzhou University. In 2023, it won the second prize of excellent educational scientific research achievements in Henan Province. In recent years, it has guided more than 30 college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training programs. In 2017, it won one first prize in Henan Province and one national bronze medal in the national "Internet +" college students' innovation and entrepreneurship project. In 2023, it won one first prize in the 16th "Challenge Cup" college students' extracurricular academic and technological works competition in Henan Province.
The teaching and research section actively carries out scientific research work. Since 2004, it has successively recruited and cultivated master's students in hygienic toxicology, nutrition and food hygiene, pharmaceutical analysis and MPH. In 2017, it began to recruit doctoral students. It has successively cultivated more than 50 master's graduates and 4 doctoral graduates (including 1 overseas doctoral student). There are currently 52 master's students, 9 doctoral students and 3 post-doctoral fellows. At the end of 2018, it successfully obtained the approval for the construction of the Zhengzhou Key Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Sanitary Inspection. At the beginning of 2019, the nanomedicine and sanitary inspection research team was established, which currently has 11 members and 3 post-doctoral fellows. In 2020, the master's degree program in the second-level discipline of sanitary inspection was added. Now, it has formed three stable research directions: tumor molecular diagnosis and intelligent system construction, screening and application of biomarkers for chronic diseases, and construction and application of functional nanomaterials. In recent years, it has obtained 6 general projects and 7 youth funds of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 special subsidy for post-doctoral fellows in China, 2 post-doctoral science funds in China, 1 innovation talent for post-doctoral fellows in Central Plains and more than 20 provincial and municipal projects. It has published more than 90 SCI-indexed papers in international journals, obtained 10 national authorized invention patents and 6 software copyrights. It has won 8 provincial and ministerial achievement awards.
The teaching and research section and its team will take the first-level discipline doctoral degree program in public health and preventive medicine and the master's degree program in the second-level discipline of sanitary inspection as the platform, and rely on the Key Laboratory of Public Health Monitoring Technology and Application in Henan Province and the Zhengzhou Key Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Sanitary Inspection. Through teamwork, a group of research talents with comprehensive knowledge of interdisciplinary fields such as public health and preventive medicine, chemistry, materials science, computer science and biomedicine will be cultivated to form an academic echelon with domestic and international influence in related fields.
