一、Introduction of Epidemiology Teaching and Research Section
1. Brief introduction
The Department of Epidemiology was established in 1979. Under the leadership of Professor Qiao Shoumin and Professor Zhou Yuanfang, the two founders of the Department of Epidemiology, the construction of epidemiology curriculum has been improved, the teaching staff has been continuously strengthened, and the teaching conditions have been significantly improved. In 1986, the teaching and research section began to recruit postgraduates majoring in epidemiology in cooperation with other schools. In 1998, the discipline of Epidemiology and Health Statistics officially obtained the qualification of the master 's degree awarding point determined by the Degree Review Committee of the State Council. In 2000, the clinical epidemiology course for international students was opened and taught in English. Since 2001, medical research methods, statistical software (SAS) application, advanced epidemiology, clinical epidemiology, epidemiological principles and methods, molecular epidemiology and other courses have been gradually opened for postgraduates majoring in preventive medicine, basic medicine and clinical medicine. In 2005, the subject obtained the qualification of the doctorate degree awarding point determined by the Degree Review Committee of the State Council.
In recent years, the Department of Epidemiology has obtained 2 national science and technology major projects and 3 national key research and development plans, presided over 18 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 projects of the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 1 major project of Henan Province, 1 major project of Zhengzhou collaborative innovation, 1 key research and development project of Henan Province and more than 60 provincial and ministerial projects. He has published more than 200 SCI-covered papers in international journals, and obtained 17 national authorized invention patents and 4 software copyrights. It has won five second prizes for scientific and technological progress in Henan Province, and has edited or participated in more than 20 textbooks.

二、Introduction of Health Statistics
1.Brief introduction
The Department of Health Statistics, established in 1978, has undergone years of development and expansion. It currently consists of 10 teaching and research staff members, including 7 professors, 1 associate professor, and 2 lecturers. Among them, 9 faculty members hold qualifications as master’s or doctoral advisors. The faculty includes 2 high-level talents recognized by Henan Province, 2 young backbone teachers from Henan Province, and 1 exemplary teacher in Henan Province, with 6 members having overseas study experience. The discipline of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, under which the department operates, is classified as a key first-level discipline in Henan Province and is authorized to confer both master's and doctoral degrees.
Since the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, the department has been awarded five major national science and technology projects, eight national-level projects including the National Natural Science Foundation and the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Research Planning Fund, and two special funding projects from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Additionally, it has undertaken over 20 provincial and ministerial-level research projects and more than 100 horizontal research projects.The department has received 12 provincial and departmental awards, secured 15 copyrights for computer software, published over 200 SCI-indexed papers, and authored more than 20 textbooks.
