Dr Qihong Deng is a chair professor in Zhengzhou University School of Public Health and vice president for the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ). He has mainly focused on the health risk of air pollution and global warming, with the objectives to design comfortable and healthy buildings/cities. Before moving to Zhengzhou, Dr Deng was a distinguished professor (2007-2021) in Central South University, Changsha, China. He obtained BSc from Wuhan University of Science & Technology in 1991, and then MSc and PhD degrees in civil engineering from Hunan University in 1998 and 2003.

He is now associate editors for BMC Medicine (BioMed Central), International Journal of Environmental Health Research (Taylor & Francis), Thermal Science and Engineering Progress (Elsevier), and Frontiers in Public Health / Frontiers in Pediatrics (Frontiers), and editorial board members for more than 10 international journals including Environment International (Elsevier), International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health (Elsevier), Annals of Epidemiology (Elsevier), Preventive Medicine (Elsevier), Building and Environment (Elsevier), Energy and Buildings (Elsevier), Urban Climate (Elsevier), Environmental Toxicology (Wiley), Journal of Thermal Biology (Elsevier), Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (Springer), and Journal of Asthma (Taylor & Francis).

Dr Deng received several awards, such as National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation (2005) and New Century Excellent Talents in Universities of China (2005). He is now the Fellows of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ), New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM), Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), and International Society of the Built Environment (ISBE). He is the president of Healthy Buildings 2019 Aisa conference.

He has published more than 150 papers in international journals and has been selected as the Most Cited Chinese Researchers since 2015 (Elsevier). His recent research on the role of prenatal exposure to indoor/outdoor air pollution in the late development of childhood allergic diseases has been highly cited by some world-leading professors and journals, some articles have been the Editor's Choice and Most Cited articles in international journals. His findings provide a new public health control strategy for the prevention or control of the rapid increase of childhood allergic diseases in the world, and have been incorporated into several international consensus, guidelines, and policies.
